Worldwide Veterinary Service will start Mafia Island Project!
Finally, the document has been accepted and signed by both WVC (Worldwide Veterinary Service) and the MDC (Mafia District Council).
WVS will provide 4 veterinary doctors and 3 assistants, all volunteers, from 8 to 21 September 2019 for the first visit.
The team will operate in the whole Island.
The vet campaigns will continue for 3 years annually or bi-annually, according to the needs of the Island and the results will be guaranteed.
Mafia is not overpopulated by dogs and rabies has not been seen for many years, however it is logical and sensible to prevent these problems.
This Project will avoid killing dogs with firearms, avoid shooting domestic dogs, that not all of them die immediately with the first projectile and the carcasses are buried, not burned, with dire consequences for people and animals.
